Where to go in Calvados with your pet?
Because your pets are entitled to a family holiday too, take them with you on your stay at Les Prairies de la Mer. At our 4-star campsite in Ouistreham near Caen, cats and dogs (except category 1 and 2) are welcome. They will be able to enjoy the mobile home, its terrace and grassy area, as well as the campsite paths and the beach just 500 m away. The long, sandy beach is ideal for your 4-legged friends!
Dog-friendly beaches in Normandy
When you come with your pet to our 4-star campsite in Ouistreham, you can walk your dog on the beaches. Here’s a quick tour of the beaches and times when dogs are allowed in Calvados.
- Grande plage de Ouistreham: just 500 metres from the campsite, the beautiful beach at Ouistreham Riva-Bella is perfect for your pet to stretch its legs. Dog-free period: 15 June to 15 September (except on the ferry side, to the right of lifeguard station 1).
- Pointe du siège in Ouistreham: once you’ve passed the lock and the magnificent lighthouse, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll with your dog all year round without any restrictions.
- Colleville-Montgomery: this small, family-friendly seaside resort is ideal for a stroll on the sand. The beach is dog-friendly (outside the supervised swimming area).
- Lion sur mer: just a 10-minute drive from Ouistreham, dogs on leads are permitted (except in July and August).
- Luc sur mer: here, dogs on leads are permitted from 1 October to 31 March on all beaches. Dogs are permitted all year round on the beach to the right of lifeguard station no. 2.
A few rules for your dog at the campsite
To ensure a clean campsite and comfort for all, holidaymakers and staff alike, here are a few instructions to follow when you come to Les Prairies de la Mer with your pet:
- Your pet (dog or cat) is accepted except for category 1 and 2 dogs.
- The health record with up to date vaccinations must be presented to reception on arrival.
- All pets must be kept on a lead on the campsite
- Pets must be picked up and disposed of in the household waste bin.
- Your pet must not be left alone in your accommodation in your absence (part of the deposit may be retained in the event of damage).
- Areas where your pet is not allowed: water areas, children’s play area and sandpit, sanitary facilities, indoor games room, sports hall. Your pet is allowed in the restaurant and on the terrace.
